Financial Independence And Women

Why financial independence is important for women? I asked why not?? Yes financial independence is important for all regardless of men and women, but in our patriarchal society where men's have all the rights to do things, where men's are the sole decision-maker in the house, women's did not have the basic rights to do things (what to wear what to not, where to spend money where to not, buy something, which job we should do or we shouldn't etc.) they have to take permission for all these things.

Financial Independence as important as your identity is or we can see financial independence as a tool to define our own identity. Financial independence is as much as important to financial freedom. Well, now you must be curious about what exactly financial independence is? Financial independence is enough income to pay our own living expenses without any kind of dependence. Whereas Financial freedom is when you can spend money without any kind of constraint or stress.

Well you know the all history about how patriarchal system has been working in our society and how women's has been treated by them, so we will not go in that scenario. There is no doubt that women are rising top to down in every field weather is men dominated field or something else but if we go deeper then before we will see that financial independence is still lacking behind among women's.

Now I will come to why part. When you will be done with graduation and post-graduation at the age of 21 & 23 respectively, you will have two choices first get married and being his (your husband) responsibility and play family-family and produce a child and fulfil in-laws expectations, husband expectations, children expectations etc.. The second choice you can have is to make yourself capable so that you can handle your own expenses your family expenses fulfil all the dreams you have ever dreamt for your mother and father whether it is a dream of giving them mobile phone from your own earned money or buying a house for them.

Well, there is no problem to opt for any option. To be a housewife, to care everybody and their essential things, to making food for them, wash clothes for them, taking care of a child and their studies their schools, their food etc. it's not an easy task at all. This needs lots of patience, courage and sacrifices one can ever have. If you want to know much about it ask your mother, grandmother or any married elder female, you will get know how much it is difficult and after all the efforts all the sacrifices they have done they didn't get anything back sometimes not even the appreciation nor gratitude.

And if you choose the second option, it's not easy either. If your family is very conservative, during the age of 21 they will expect you to marry or sometimes they force you too and this age will get older ( age of 23-24 ) if you have a less conservative family. And after all, this if you decided to earn they will restrict you with many things like this job is too far, you can't do this job because there is night shift too, how will you do the job who will drop you and how will you come home at night? These all things we face one's in especially when we are new to do jobs.

When you get your dream job or do something which inspires you and earn something ( more than your brother or father especially) you will get started your rights and you will get some more freedom than before like you can go out in the night for some meet out or for dinner or for cinema or for outstation or something else depends on every individual circumstance.

When you started earning you can also invest time and money to follow your dream and fulfil your Wishlist whether it's about learning guitar or joining some sports club or gym. Your financial freedom also gives confidence and insurance to your parents and yourself too that now you can take your own responsibility and you can take your decision on your own. Sometimes financial independence also gives women's/ girl to choose their life partner or soul mate by themselves too.

And by default god forbid if you lose your parents or your husband than you have to earn eventually for yourself and your family, so why not before this incident. Financial independence also helps to family to contribute equally in household and lose some financial pressure from sole earner and live financially stress-less life.

Well on the one side financial independence improve your day to day life without being depended to anyone and help to fulfil your dreams, it also helps society to function more liberal than before and accept all the decisions' which today women's are making. It also gives good grades to the country and works to decrease the gender gap in a society and also help to give more opportunity to women's to contribute to society.

So I will suggest all of you earn something weather you earn 100Rupees or 1000Rupees doesn't matter but start earning your pocket money from the early age and when you came into the college you will get many opportunities for a paid internship and something else. It will give you more and more experience more knowledge about society and people, how to communicate with people and etc. It will boost your confidence and give you a lot of experience which will help you further. You should think why in the western world parents told their children to go outside and earn their pocket money by themselves only and you can see their confidence, experience how they handle every situation.

Being financially independent also mean that you can give back all the investment which your parents have done in your education and in your career, isn't it the proudest moment one girl can ever have? Financial independence will make your own identity or help you to make your own identity regardless of anything. Be independent Be confident and Be someone who can contribute in society to make it more happiest then before.

"Financial independence is paramount. My mom always says that when a woman is financially independent, she has the ability to live life on her own terms. I think that was the soundest advice that I ever got." - Priyanka Chopra Jones
